The application form for Leadership Oklahoma City Signature Program Class 37, 2018-19, is now available.
  • Applicants for the Signature Program Program must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Applicants must live, work, or have a demonstrated substantial interest in Oklahoma City. 
Applications will be judged on the basis of: 
  • Commitment and motivation to serve the central Oklahoma area 
  • Potential for a substantial civic leadership role 
  • Representation of a particular segment of society, including occupation, gender, race or ethnic background, geographic demographics, faith, economic status, and any other characteristic as appropriate

Apr 17 - May 1    Oklahoma City Community Foundation Seeks Great Ideas
As its 50th anniversary approaches, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation is launching a campaign to spark innovative, new ideas to further improve quality of life as it looks ahead to the next half-century.
 
The Great Idea Challenge is encouraging nonprofits, community organizations and even individuals collaborating with nonprofits to propose programs that will connect resources, plant seeds, leverage assets or launch ventures that are new to Oklahoma City and central Oklahoma. Applicants with the most viable and impactful ideas will receive grants ranging from $150,000 to $200,000.

Grants will be awarded in, but not limited to areas such as the arts, culture, health, wellness, education and social services. In addition, proposed projects should demonstrate collaboration among organizations of varying capacities.
 
To Apply for The Great Idea Challenge

Step 1:  Request an invitation to submit letter of inquiry by May 1, 2018. Email greatidea@occf.org with the following information: 1) brief description of your project, 2) list of partner organizations and 3) target population.
 
Step 2: Complete the online letter of inquiry by June 8, 2018. After completing step one, you will receive a link and access code to complete the online letter of inquiry. The online form will ask for a project outline, capacity of the partner organizations, details about the target population and project budget.
 
Step 3: Invited applicants must complete full grant application by Sept. 21, 2018. The most promising applicants and viable projects will be invited to submit a full grant application.
 
Grants will be awarded for one- and two-year projects and they will be implemented at the beginning of 2019. Review guidelines and eligibility at www.occf.org/greatidea.

Moore Norman Technology Center will host a first-time Grow Your Business Summit. This one-day program is designed to focus on the growth and education of business owners and administrators from start-up to maturity. The day is divided into morning and afternoon sessions with training that ranges from employee education and safety to digital trends in business and marketing. Participants can personalize their day and hear from seasoned professionals offering techniques and advice related to issues they can face in daily operations. There is also a passport program through vendor stations for participants to have a chance to win prizes.

Senior Manager of Human Resources at Avara Pharmaceutical Services Pam Maguire is the morning keynote speaker and will share insight through her presentation "Creating Intention." The afternoon keynote speaker is Retired Brig. Gen. Ben Robinson who will share his presentation “Keep It Simple Leadership.”

Elective learning sessions include:

Metro Technology Centers will host the 30th Annual Job Fair.  More than 60 employers will be hiring on Wednesday. The job fair is free and open to the public.
 
Some of the employers seeking potential employees include City of Oklahoma City; Dolese Brothers; INTEGRIS Health; Tinker Federal Credit Union; and more. 
 
There will be a large variety of jobs available representing more than 30 different career fields such as auto service; law enforcement; computer repair; construction; graphic design; cosmetology and more. Metro Tech teaches certifications and licensing needed for higher-paying jobs in these career fields. Full-time training programs take 10 months – 2 years to complete or short-term courses are available nights, weekends and online.
